I switch it off for:
- Development Database, especially with a full drop/re-create cycle via automated deployment. "Hey, DBA's, why is login so slow?" "You have 100,000 tables in your recyclebin"
- If you had an ORA-600 or -7445 investigation, Oracle Support used to ask you to turn it off (which is a restart). In 10G it was a major cause of the ORA-600's. 11G Less so. Not seen it in 12C.
Oracle defaults are usually the best place to start. Change only to make things better for a specific, defined and empirically provable reason (not because you googled it and it seems to help).

We do.
What version are you on? I'm struggling to understand why you would disable this feature now.
