I recommend that we refrain from terms that are by definition sexist, ethnic, or racist on oracle-l. If anyone has cause to claim mistreatment by another list member in any regard, please refer the matter to the list administrator, not the entire list.
Please do continue to be blunt regarding any differences of opinion regarding technical content, correcting me or anyone else who makes a blunder or even a slight incorrect nuance in our dialog of facts regarding technology.
Do please remember the audience is the entire list, so sometimes elementary contextual information is appropriate. Especially in that case (and most cases except identifying a particular technical claim in context or giving credit to an author) it is probably better to reply to the list in general rather than to a particular person (the rich reasoning for this can be found in chapter length in writings regarding Robert's Rules of order, which I suggest be on your reading shelf near your chosen religious or philosophy books).
Or, as an example lifted from early Saturday Night Live, don't begin your contribution in a manner anyone can confuse with "Jane, you ignorant slut" in a writing voice reflecting Dan Ackroyd's character at that moment. This may tend to be interpreted as what follows is a personal attack (whether it is or is not) rather than a counterpoint to the technical thread.
If I've diverged from policy here, I'm quite certain the list administrator will clarify things off list to me real soon now and make any required announcements officially as ADMIN:, so no need to reply, whether to upbraid me or praise me for these non-technical remarks prefaced with OT: for that reason. My email address is not hidden if you have something to say to me, rather than the list, but please do not spam the list.
Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays of all variety!
Peace,
mwf
