Pete,

The problem is probably with me in terms of expectations and trying to maintain some sort of consistency. I was expecting that whatever functionality EM provides for a database instance it'd be available for a database instance hosted on AWS RDS. I'm thinking ahead to supporting this environment and getting calls on performance issues and wanting to quicking jump to that env and check Top Sessions. Or earlier in the day a customer mentioned things were slow so we get a request for AWR reports from a certain time period. Obviously I'm way off on that.

We may need to stick with Database Control locally on RDS but if AWS RDS takes off at our site then this can be a bit of a pain to manage.

Regards,

Dave

Dave

I've not used the plugin at all, but this blog<https://blogs.oracle.com/zerotocloud/entry/amazon_web_services_aws_plug> would certainly indicate there's a lot more to it than what you're seeing. It might be worthwhile reviewing that and the further reading section at the bottom. If you have any questions after that reach back out to me and I'll see if I can find some further contacts for you to follow up with.

Has anyone worked with the EM12c AWS RDS plugin and found any value in what it provides? I ask because we have 4 instances deployed on AWS RDS and through the mentinoed plugin I can see these instances but as far as I can tell all that's monitored is their status and Disk I/O. We were hoping for a little more umph as compared to what we normally get with targets in EM12c but if that's all the plugin can provide and no one has found a way to add additional metrics/features then we'll probably stick with database control on the RDS.

Thx.

Regards,

Dave
