RE: Oracle License

I never claimed it wasn’t free. I stated you can’t use it for whatever you please which was your implication of it being FREE, that you must follow the legal documents. It is better to say that cluster ware is free but carries with it legal encumbrances that make it not so free.  

For non-lawyers, if on Black Friday I go to one of the Retail stores that offers a free item to the first 100 customers and I obtain said item, there are no legal encumbrances directly associated to that item and it is truly free except for the time and money I expended to get to the retail store and stand in line waiting where the item was offered. Oracle SW is not “Free” in that way.  

If you don’t wish to speak of legal documents, their interpretation or general legalities in the licensing space then you should stay out of these conversations in this forum.

You clearly wanted to cover the legal question by looking for Oracle documents that had the “free” word in it relative to cluster ware.  

The original poster asked a legal licensing question and you as normal jumped in and stated its free without explaining the legal encumbrances.  

“If i install rac software alone do i need to pay license? or license is applicable only for database? “  

I have simply corrected you as we all do to each other on this list for the betterment of the whole community.

I don't claim that. Oracle Corp. claims that. In several documents, presented here by several people. And I am tired of playing lawyer games, so I will not venture into that area. I am a computer geek, not a lawyer. This is surreal. You are claiming that clusterware is not free, despite several documents from Oracle Corp. claiming that it is? You go girl!
