It may not be possible immedialtey to upgrade to next 9.2 . But I'll push for it. Mean time is there a work around for me ?

upgrade to 9.2 or 10.1 and apply the latest patchsets.
if that doesn't fi it, repost.
there is absolutely no excuse for running unsupported software such as 8.1.6.
period.
