In sar, it considers wio and idle separately. =20
Vmstat considers wio as idle time (because the CPU's are not working as they 'wait' for I/O)......and is rolled up in the id column

I remember at a Sun presentation once the presenter remarked that
"vmstat was the official tool
and 'sar' started life as a student project and should be treated as
such".
I dunno if thats truth or fiction.
