Excellent point, Nuno. And if the list will permit a slight digression, in
the book The Cuckoo's Egg by Clifford Stall, that parameter difference was
the first indication that they weren't dealing with a local teenage hacker.
Still an excellent book. Shutting up now.

For those interested in the historical background:
the Sun "ps aux" is rooted in the Berkely Unix
tradition (BSD), whereas "ps -ef" is rooted
in the AT&T System V tradition.
Berkeley and System V used to be the main contenders
for the "true Unix" crown. Largely nobody cared,
so they eventually saw the light and unified.
I'm getting too old...
