Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: Re: Is anyone using Cluster file system using OCFS for Linux for Oracle Cluster Registry and CRS voting disk?
yes. Thanks. I've read all those. In fact searching in the general search
using those metalink numbers you find a series of other notes that make
interesting reading (though the notes don't seem to have self-id, so you
still have to look up the primary notes individually.)
The salient point I apparently didn't make clear is those notes regarding OCFS 2 are dated in mid to late April, while 10766_04 was released in June, so OCFS is still forbidden as a container of $ORACLE_BASE as of the latest supported online documentation. There is enough going on with 10g {Grid|RAC} that I don't plan to facilitate the response "But you're not using a supported combination." In any case, I don't really have a need to put my binaries on OCFS.
Let me attempt to be clearer in the focus of my interest:

Also see Note 255359.1
However, the question is : IS OCSF 2.0 really available ?

Actually OCFS 2.0 is supposed to support the binaries. That would have been
for 10gSE RAC support {although, again, you can have local installs of the
Oracle SW}
See Note 252331.1 on MetaLink

Per B10766_04, 5-22, 5-23, it *IS NOT* supported to use Cluster file system
using OCFS for Linux to contain $ORACLE_BASE, but it *IS* supported to place
Cluster Ready Services (CRS) files on OCFS.
