Excellent suggestions. I also see that the original poster is in Florida.
The OAUG DBSIG meets in Orlando September 12, 2004. The DBSIG is free, and
I'm doing everything I can to make sure there is a strong DBA technical
track for the whole conference. The conference runs the 12th through the
15th and costs money. See www.oaug.org for details. The DBSIG will probably
have speakers from the Oracle RDBMS kernel group and Hotsos, although I
cannot make an absolute promise yet.
http://www.oaug.org/Conferences/cpOrlando2004/index.shtml
gets you straight to the conference page.

Have you considered the Hotsos Clinic or Hotsos Symposium? I've stopped going to the Oracle Worlds and IOUGs. I've been to the Hotsos Symposium both times it's been held. It's held in March. Check out hotsos.com for their training schedule. I highly recommend the Clinic as soon as you can go and the Symposium next year. Depends on (as they say) if you want to nibble from a buffet or drink from a firehose. No, I don't work for Hotsos. Just a fan.
