Dennis,
You got out early for the weekend??? Damn, I certainly do disagree!! = *-)
Now more seriously, I've used both and I find Pro*C easier to work = with, shorter learning curve, and just as powerful. And yes you can = make transparent application failover work in Pro*C, easier than in OCI. = But of course if you don't want to have to precompile your program = before compiling it, by all means use the OCI layer.

With what? About me leaving early for the weekend? Yep that didn't happen. If it is about OCI vs. Pro*C, it has been too many years since I used OCI and I don't think I ever used Pro*C. So if you have more recent experience, your opinion rules by default.

Oops, I read OCI as OCP. Not enough coffee this morning. . . must leave
early for weekend. Yes, I used OCI years ago. It is great for certain =
=3D
types
of database interactivity. It can do things more precisely than =3D
precompilers
like Pro*C can.=3D20

Well I must ruefully admit that it forced me to learn some aspects of
Oracle that I wasn't aware of. It also made me aware of some area I =3D
could
study to go more in-depth in Oracle. And I'm going to do that real soon =
=3D
now,
but right now I need to rest up from the exhausting OCP studies.

I have never used the OCI for anything nor have I dug into it. I was
wondering if anyone used it for anything. There is nothing specific to =
