Been there. Done that.

Followed the procedure below and everything worked fine. Thanks everyone for your help!

Workaround 1:=20

  1. Create a temporary directory on your server.=20
  2. Copy the entire contents of the Oracle RDBMS Server CD=20 to the temporary directory created in step 1.=20
  3. Search the directory structure created in Step 1 for the existence of=20 the filename symcjit.dll.=20
  4. Rename each copy of the symcjit.dll to symcjit.old.=20
  5. Run the setup.exe from the install\win32 directory (under the directory=20 on your hard disk used in Step 1) and install Oracle 8.1.x and related products.=20

Go to the autorun directory of the CD and click the setup.exe there.

I am trying to load Oracle 8.1.7 client on a new MS2000 server. When I click install or setup I don't get anything. The system acts like I didn't do anything.

Any ideas?
