I don't know if it's really a solution. I remember that some people using plain text e-mail programs didn't like messages in HTML format so I always sent e-mails to the list in Outlook's "plain text" format (Format menu -> Plain Text).
However, on freelists.org that causes the e-mail to show up with "quoted-printable" characters. See here for some mention of "quoted-printable" characters at freelists: http://www.freelists.org/help/fom-serve/cache/50.html
(and this:
http://www.freelists.org/help/fom-serve/cache/52.html
which says "use of Outlook isn't allowed at FreeLists" - I think that means that "if you work at freelists you're not allowed to user Outlook")
If I choose to format the Outlook e-mail as HTML (Format menu -> HTML) then the "quoted-printable" characters go away. What I would like to know is if the HTML e-mails from Outlook cause a bunch of HTML tags to appear in these e-mails for some of the other readers of this list. Anyone?
P.S. This is Outlook 2000 SR-1 (9.0.0.3821) P.P.S. I've been arguing with our internal IT department about using another e-mail client besides Outlook but so far it's IT department 1 - Jacques 0.
