Saira,
I think you can also check what the import session is doing..
just find out its sid select from v$session_wait. Or just take a dump with oradebug or with 10046 event.
Or identify the corresponding transaction and select from v$transaction to check if USED_UBLKS is increasing...

Saira,
ps -ef | grep imp
It should tell if imp is still running.
If you have commit = Y, you can do a count on the table(s) being imported and see if the numbers are climbing. This can be misleading as indexes and other objects could be importing after the rows are all in the table.

How can I find out if an import is dead or alive? I
have an import of
1.6M+ rows that's been running for over 45 minutes.
Oracle 8.1.7.0.0
AIX 4.3.3
What can I check?
Thanks,
Saira
