Oracle-L: How to make ORACLE Developer 6i understand ORACLE 8i client?

We used ORACLE developer 6i on PC. The ORACLE Developer 6i use ORACLE 8.0.5 client. We don't have ORACLE 8.0.5 client. Does their has way to make ORACLE Developer 6i connect through 8i client?
