Seema - Just searching by scanning with a query like WHERE TEXT LIKE
'%SOMETHING%' is very slow.
To search for text within columns, the Intermedia suggestion from Raj is
probably the best solution. If you just need to search just a few columns
for specific terms, then you could consider a function-based index. I don't
know the cost for Intermedia, but you can build your own equivalent by
pulling the data out and indexing it, then storing the indexes within
Oracle. Your program can search using your indexes, which will point to the
actual record.
