However, login.sql will run if it is defined in
the SQL_PATH (or possibly SQLPATH)
environment variable, which is set up using
the same syntax at the normal PATH option,
viz. directory names separated by colons.

login.sql and glogin.sql
glogin.sql will be global, from wherever you start your sqlplus session, login.sql is run from your current directory so if you have changed directories it won't be run
