Yeah.
Last year I was relocating a database from another part of the country.
The DBA there insisted that the database was shutdown properly when
the cold backups were made.
I finally had to email the relevant portions of the alert.log to the
entire
project team, you know, the part that says 'crash recovery' every time
the database is started.
He finally started shutting down the way I asked before making a
backup to ship to me.
