Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> Upgrading JServer (or Is Jserver Installed)
I just upgraded an 8.1.5.0.0 database to 8.1.7.0.0 and was totally willing
to skip the "Upgrading JServer"
section under "Upgrading Specific Components"......until, I saw "JServer
Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production"
in the svrmgrl banner. I went and looked at my 8.1.5 banner and found
"....and Java options" Are these
both referring to the same thing?
Anyway, after finding Note: 105472.1 "Setup, Configuration, and Use of the
Java Virtual Machine(8.1.5 and 8.1.6)",
I don't believe that the JVM has ever been installed here. (Select count(*)
from dba_objects where object_type
like '%JAVA%' returns 0 rows and the roles JAVAUSERPRIV and JAVASYSPRIV do
not exist)
So I'm guessing that initjvm.sql has never been run? and that "we" are not
using the JServer? and
and (most importantly) that there are no upgrade steps to perform for
JServer? Is this correct?
What Is the banner saying? "JServer Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production"
Thanks.
