That is a tough call, in my experience 8.1.7.3 is more stable and has fewer minor patches than 8.1.7.2, I would certainly go for .3. However, the best course of action is to call your vendor see if and when they will support 8.1.7.3. On the other hand if this database will only run the vendor's application, then sticking with the supported version may not be so bad. Ultimately it is your call!
