SOLVED: TNS-12537 TNS:connection closed

Hi list,

thanks everyone for help. I looked up metalink and found following bug/workarround:

fact: Oracle Server - Enterprise Edition 8.1.7
fact: SQL*Net
fact: MS Windows NT
symptom: Client Connection Failure
symptom: TNS-12537 / ORA-12537: TNS:connection closed
symptom: TNS-12560 / ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

symptom: TNS-00507 TNS:protocol adapter error symptom: USE_SHARED_SOCKET is set to TRUE in registry change: Upgraded listener to 8.1.7
cause: <Bug:1566794>
: CONNECTIONS FAIL WITH ORA-12537 WHEN USE_SHARED_SOCKET IS
SET IN 8.1.7 fix:

Fixed versions : 8.1.7.2
Workaround :
Set USE_SHARED_SOCKET to FALSE in the registry. Warning :
Setting this parameter will prevent to connect through a firewall which has no
SQL*Net proxy built-in.

I set USE_SHARED_SOCKET to FALSE and everything works fine.

I'm a little bit confused, cause Oracle runs on this machine since May 2001 without problems. But suddenly after a reboot I got TNS-12537. Server was rebootet before, no changes were made to environment (NT Patches, Oracle Patches...).

Dear Newsgroup,
I have an Oracle Server 8.1.7.0.0 on an NT4-Server SP 6 platform. When I want to connect me with SQL-Plus I got the Error: TNS-12537 TNS:connection closed The Server has no configuration change. The listener is running and the oracle-service is running too. I have restated the services 100 times.

Please help.
It's very hurry.
