perhaps you could try some of the following:

make sure the installer is still not trying to use some JRE available in your disk - i.e. locate all JREs installed and rename the directories.

Also in the windows registry temporarily rename the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/JavaSoft branch to something, so that it is unavailable to the system (because there usually exists a JavaRuntimeEnvironment/CurrentVersion key pointing to some JRE)

finally, copy the distribution CDs to disk and edit the Disk1\Install\oraparam.ini - there is a line like:

"JRE_LOCATION=../stage/Components/oracle.swd.jre/1.1.8.10.0/1/DataFiles/Expa nded/jre"

try to edit it so that it does not contain relative but absolute path (according to the directory u've coped the distribution into)

if it works - don't forget to restore the JRE paths and registry settings

if it's still not working and u have MetaLink access - there are hundreds of similar complains there (most of them unanswered anyways), perhaps u can find some hints
