While it is possible to copy /mnt_point/app/oracle tree to a different host
and still get oracle to run, you might be in for a RUDE surprise in the future.

After I copied an 8.1.6 tree onto a test system earlier this year, Oracle
refused to allow it to be upgraded to V8.1.7 because the "inventory" directory did NOT contain any knowledge of the 8.1.6 installation.

I am NOT saying that you can't work around such problems, I'm just warning that it has the potential for future additional work.
