Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> downgrading Linux 7.0 to 6.2
List,
Has anyone downgraded from 7.0 Linux to 6.2 linux with Oracle 8.1.7.0.1 installed?
Any pit falls that need to be taken care of?
Reason being, I started with 6.2 and installed Oracle 8.1.7.0.1 and all was fine.
Upgraded the os to 7.0 and all was fine. Tried to add a new option to Oracle 8.1.7.0.1
and Oracle continually get the "end of communication channel". I have followed the
steps outlined in the ftp.kernel.org web site and still no luck. I have uninstalled
the Oracle and reinstalled but still no luck. I have all of my datafiles,
controlfiles, and .ora files. I am not able to perform a backup as I do not have a
tape drive or disk space to do a 70 GIG database. I only have 20 GIG free on my
drives. 1 10GIG and 2 40GIG drives.
Any ideas?
What would be the easiest way to migrate the OS to Solaris 8 for Intel is possible.
This is not a development box or a production box. Just a test box to look at the
possible OS/Oracle combinations.
Thanks,
ROR mª¿ªm
