I finally got 8.1.7 installed on the new Dell P4, had to manually set the path and create a listener thru command line interface. When I tried to create a tablespace at 8G (one datafile) the process went away (went to lunch still nothing). Anyone know of a bug in this area. A 6G tablespace create worked fine, and I could create tablespace datafiles this size on P3 systems. Did a pentium 4 search on metalink and all I got was the patch stuff.
