Working for the govt., you're trading ca$h money for job security. Business is risky, but you get rewarded for taking that risk - if the company goes bankrupt or has to make you redundant, then your nice paycheck isn't getting cut that month. I can't see the govt. going bankrupt anytime soon (altho' I suppose it is possible).
It's just a matter of working out what's more important to you.
