Hi,
I think, "don't use RAID for..." is not a good approach. If there is no IO related wait event or there is no huge CPU cycles for software raids, it's not a problem to use RAID or not to use.
There is an excellent paper of Carry Millsap who is a philosopher of Oracle+ComputerSciences.
