Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> Oracle Version for New Database
All,
I am trying to decide on a version of Oracle for a new database that will hold a number of small apps, mainly web apps using apache web server. Last time I set up a database I used 8.1.6.2.1 (this is Solaris 2.6 BTW) and I had no end of problems with incremental snapshots causing "waited too long for row cache enque lock" in the alert log file which I believe is now a known problem with simple replication in this version.
Does anyone know if the problem is fixed in a more recent version? What would be a good choice for a new database to hopefully provide both a stable RDBMS as well as access to new features etc?
Thanks,
Ken
