One of our units did some Delphi work on their own, and now that we've
noticed they're stuck until we can re-do it in a language that supports
more recent versions of the client. They've actually been able to upgrade
to 8.0.3 client on many machines.
This arrangement seems to work fine for Oracle 8.1.6, though of course most of the new features are not available to your programmers. I haven't upgraded any servers to 8.1.7 yet to test.
