Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: DBMS_PIPE and the shared pool
In theory our pipes are being removed as they are done with them but
my production database currently has over 1000 active pipes in it.
Sometimes they bring over very little data but a lot of times they
deal with a great amount of data. The database is never shutdown so
in my case they would never get cleaned up if we did not remove them
ourselves via code.
I am running on HP 10.20 Oracle 8.0.4 (should of mentioned that before hand).

Kimberley,
I use dbms_pipe to monitor errors my users encounter all the time. These
pipes get created when the pipe is referenced first time. Then I just let it
sit till the shutdown, sometimes few MB of data passes through these pipes
(when tracing a session), but never had any problems (in 7.3 and now in
805).
Could you NOT remove the pipe and see if the problem goes away ...?
