Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: URGENT: Why are there so many Oracle (LOCAL=NO) processes?
Actually if you set the init parameter license_max_sessions=xx where xx is a
number (I believe that's the one). It stops any connections beyond the
number you give this parameter. Think hard before setting this though,
because it will stop any connections beyond the number given (including cron
processes). You could possibly crash (or at least stall) a critical process
if too may users are on line.

these are delicated process. So the maximum amount you can have subject to the PROCESSES parameter you set in the init.ora file. A larger number of PROCESSES will definitely buy you more time.
But I don't think there is any way you can limit the number of these connections.

Those are the processes for people who logon to your database through sqlnet. For example, when you use your PC sqlplus to logon to your database, there will be such a section in your server.

Does anyone know why so many of these Oracle processes named (LOCAL=NO) have suddenly shown up? So many in fact, I can't bring up SVRMGR until I kill them, but they keep coming back!
