Incorrect again, Mladen. I have it on very good authority that this is because the log buffer is flushing every 1.0000128 Mbytes or one hemi-demi-semi-quaver, whichever comes first.

Incorrect listener.ora configuration. You should use the old fashioned SID based addresses and not 8i service names.

Hi,
I'm trying to conenct to an Oracle 8.1.7 (on Solaris8) instance from another
workstation on the LAN but get the "ORA-12154" error (cannot resolve
SERVICE_NAME)
I checked and double-checked the entries in listener.ora and tnsnames.ora in
the respective
machines... everything appears ok... (I can connect using the
@connect_String) from the
same machine the instance is on...
Also, I can succesfully "tnsping" the alias from the workstation... My
database name is
nnsun (and global dbName is nnsun.WORLD)...
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
