"Oracle Applications" is a set of products from Oracle.
Some of the competing products are from PeopleSoft, SAP, Baan.
Naturally these products run on an Oracle database.
The Department of Buzzword Compliance would stick Oracle Apps
in the same quarter with ERP (enterprise resource planning), COTS
(commercial off the shelf)
and others that I'm sure that other seasoned Apps DBA's will contribute!
There are a couple of Oracle Press books directed at oracle apps: Tremayne, Applications Performance Tuning Handbook (Somebody), Financials Handbook
