RMAN questions : Urgent

Hello listers!

  I am facing a couple of doubts with rman.

1. what is the 'exact' difference the full backup and whole backup? and how to specify whole backup
2. Can someone please provide me with a list of rman commands that WON'T work WITHOUT a recovery catalog?
