Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> Oracle 8.1.6 and compatible parameter
Hi,
I have been performing a couple of rehearsals of a database migration from 7.3.3 to 8.1.6.2.1 on Solaris 2.6. The latest attempt has caused some users to complain about performance (they say that certain operations are magnitudes slower then the prior test) and the only thing that I changed with the process was that I am now using locally managed tablespaces and to implement these I had to set the compatible parameter to 8.1.6.0.0.
Is the use of locally managed tablespaces (and/or the parameter change) likely to have any side effects that I could potentially blame for this?????
The symptoms are vastly reduced buffer hit ratio for one. Would the compatible parameter cause other parameters that may not be explicitly set to have different default?? (optimizer mode etc??) Looking for clues and any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks,
