Give us more information as of how you create the dblink. And what is the tnsnames.ora file look like in the 816 box. Can you find the kminstl1 entry in your tnsnames.ora file?

I am trying to connect an 8.1.6 instance to a 7.3.4 instance through a database link. I get and error message something like: ORA-02085 Database Link FINQUAL1.KMG.COM connects to KMINSTL1.WORLD. There is no KMINSTL1.world anywhere. The link points to FINQUAL1. Can anyone help?
