HELP! - SQL*NET from 8.1.6 to 7.3.4

I am trying to connect an 8.1.6 instance to a 7.3.4 instance through a
database link.  I get and error message something like:
ORA-02085 Database Link FINQUAL1.KMG.COM connects to KMINSTL1.WORLD.  There
is no KMINSTL1.world anywhere.  The link points to FINQUAL1.
Can anyone help?
