You are right. If the database is not active at all. A 1MB redo log wil=
l
take forever to fill. But looking at the rate of the log switch for Lar=
ry.
I guess they are suffering a very severe performance problem here.
And I must admit that a 600MB Oracle database is a misery to me... and =
yes,
why pay big buck to go for oracle if you only have a tiny database, why=
don't save money with M$ Access? :P

I did consulting for a company who had an Oracle database that was only=
600MB and they had 1 MB redo logs, which was fine. It all depends on th=
e
business requirements. Why they didn't go with Microcrap Access still
remains a mystery.

Satar

Gee.. 1MB redolog file is WAY too small!! You should definitely
increased
the size of the redo log.
It is very costly for Oracle to do the log switch. You would want to=
have
it doing a switch about every 30 minutes only. You will have less
archivelog this way, but the size of the logs will be bigger.

Hi all,
My database has 2 redo log groups and each group has 3 members. Each members size is 1 meg each.
The problem is that archive logs are generated at a fast rate:

Isnt it good practice to keep 3 days worth of archive logs on disk in case needed? If so, what is the best solutions for this high rate=
logs being generated so often?
Thanks in advance.
