David,
Check out Mike Ault's presentation of "How to Hire (or be hired as) a DBA" at:
http://www.revealnet.com/dbapipe/archives.htm
Short of somebody sending a copy of their job description (which will never marry up with reality) - this will give you a good start down the path of employer/employee expectations/job knowledge.

Subject: What is usually expected of a DBA
List Members,
Is there an activity or list of activities that you would consider to be implied by the title database administrator? Making sure there is a backup for the database, for instance. I'm hoping to understand what is usually expected of a DBA.
Thanks in advance,
David Messer
