And just as a heads up.
For each Oracle Home listed under the main entry in the registry you will probably have to enter in by hand the Oracle SID Also the oradim command on automatic database creation or by hand has a bug where the startmode is not listed as auto when you specify it. This can result in you needing to go into the password file for each instance and making sure the start mode is accurate.

Best of luck and skill to you

One method that I am familiar with is this.

Install each version of Oracle to a different path (i.e. d:\orant\734 and d:\orant\806). Use two different users to manage the two version (i.e. Oracle7 and Oracle8). Set the ORACLE_HOME and other environment variables for each user appropriately. In the startup parameters for each Oracle service specify the appropriate user account to startup the service (instead
of the system account).

There are other methods that involve using batch scripts but I think this is
a little cleaner.

Hi All ,

I have a problem in my hand I need solution for doing alternative arrangements.

Is it possible to have two diferent versions of Oracle installed on a single Windows NT server with two different instances of Databases running ( One for each version ) .

We referred to Oracle Manuals and Books but is is not clear.

If somebody has done that before , If you can guide us it would be helpful.

Thanking you in advance
