Hi,
Depends on the aix level, there are a few (important) apar's, w've had no problems (so far) with 8.1.6.1.0 on aix 4.3.2
But reseltly I've noticed a different behavior with user defined externaly. When a progam (compiled on 7.3) connects to a (8.1.6) database with sqlplus with no user /password is doesnot work anymore. It used to work but now it seems than we need 'sqlplus /' to do the same thing.
We are running an designer repository and OEM (plus RMAN) on 8.1.6 and a few small produktion databases.

We are planning to install Oracle 8i on IBM RS6000 AIX platform. Does anybody know of any existing problems with 8i on AIX, how stable it is and how does it compare with having Oracle 8 instead ?>
Thanks,
Deepak
