Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> Troubles installing Oracle 8.1.5 on AIX, this time 4.3.3
Hi again, listers!
I had to suspend the test I was doing on AIX 4.3.2 because the =
enviroment I
really have to test is Oracle 8.1.5 on AIX 4.3.3 and prove that our
applications work without any problems on this enviroment.
So, I stopped trying on AIX 4.3.2 and did a clean install of AIX 4.3.3 =
once
I got the CD's that were missing yesterday.
So far I got the Operating System installed.
Couldn't find the make utility on the installation CD's so I used ftp =
to
copy it from the production server (in wich CD am I supposed to look =
for
it?).
Ok, so far I created the DBA group,=20
created the oracle8 user and included all enviroment variables in =
oracle8
.profile,=20
executed umask 022,=20
Created the mount_point for the cd and mounted it.
Runned the rootpre.sh as root.
Connected as oracle8 and tried to execute ./runInstaller with no = success.
I get the following error:
Initializing Java virtual machine from........... Please wait
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Cllient is not authorized to connect to server
java.lang.InternalErrror: Can't connect to X11 window server using =
':0.0' as
the value of the DISPLAY variable. ......
I am lost here.
Yesterday I had set that variable just the same and the installer did = run...
the software didn't linked because "make" was missing.... but today I =
have
no idea of what am I doing wrong.
Anyone can throw some ligh here????
I have a deadline to show some results and the clock is ticking..=20
please help!
Thanks in advance.
