Hi,

I am new to RMAN and am reading the doco. I plan to use RMAN to do hot and cold backup of an NT db to disk (using controlfile instead of recovery catalog). Question: With RAM do you distinguish between HOT and COL backups? Do we need to issue ALTER TABLESPACE BEGIN/END BACKUP to do hot backup with RMAN?

Any sample script to do hot/cold backup would be much appreciated.
