It varies. If there a hard deadline with penalty clauses, I'll bill 14 or more hrs a day. Or if the task is intriguing, like a particularly baroque stored procedure package, I'm happy to work on it. The company know that they can rely on me to do this. Happily, this also means that if a vice president walks into my office and I've got my feet up on the desk reading a sci-fi novel, they don't mind at all. No-one within earshot seems to share my taste for Johnny Cash or Don McLean, tho'...
