Thank you for your response Sunil. I do have the field data type as integer external. I was also adding a format because I did not know that sqlloader would recognize the dash as a negative without a format. I took the format off, ran it again and it worked.
Thanks,
Laura

Laura,
I did ran into similar problem before.
I managed it with data type as INTEGER EXTERNAL on that field in the .ctl
file
hope this helps.

Subject: Negatives in Sqlloader
Using SqlLoader, has anyone handled negative amounts? I have downloaded into a text file the amounts with a negative sign in the first position of the field. If it is not negative there is a blank there. I am having trouble gettting sqlldr to run. Anyone have any experience with this? How do you 'format' the .ctl member to recognize the '-' as being a negative?
Thank you in advance,
Laura
