Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: Point in time recovery
This sometimes refer to a file that is older than the rest of the files.
Thus the error message. However, I suspect that there may be something
wrong with the backup. Check your alert log and see if there are any
messages about a file that is in a fuzzy state (when Oracle begins the
recovery). It is possible that Oracle is not sure what the current
checkpoint number is in the header and thus not able to determine when the
file was first backed up.
Comments and corrections always welcome.
Thanks,
James

Subject: Point in time recovery
Hi All,
I have been doing a point in time recovery.
We had an online backup all datafiles backed up on 17/5
we restored all datafiles and started the database in mount mode
Then we issued the command
recover database until time '2000-05-18:12:00:00'
Oracle started the recovery and we hit enter for the suggested archived redo
log
files.
after a while Oracle came back with the message
ORA-01547: warning: RECOVER succeeded but OPEN RESETLOGS would get error
below.
ORA-01194:file 1 needs more recovery to be consistent
ORA-0110: data file 1: E:\ORANT\DATABASE\SYS1FCBP.ORA'
What could be the problem here
I checked that this file was restored from an old tape (17/5/2000)
