Using stored packaged functions in Oracle Reports 2

Hi,

I'm invoking stored packaged functions in Oracle Reports 2.0 programs on  unix/motif. It works fine. But as soon as I modify the package (especially the  package header, adding a function, modifying parameters...) in the database,  the reports start to crash (core dumped).

The only way to make the programs work again is to open them in the designer,  re-connect and issue a File/Compile action followed by Generate and Save.

2 questions :
Is it possible to avoid the report crashing when called packages are changed ? If not, is there a way to automate the File/Compile action ?

extra question :
Is there the same problem with Oracle Reports 2.5 ?

Thanks a lot.
