Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> SQL*Net on OpenVMS
Hi all,
I'm having trouble getting the SQL*Net (TCP) listener to start on our Ope= nVMS box. Admittedly, I'm a AIX/Unix person, not VMS, so please excuse = any ignorance listed below. I had no problem getting it to run on our = AIX, SCO, & DEC Unix boxes, but I must be missing something with this VMS= stuff.
For starters, everytime I tried to start the listener (lsnrctl) I got:
Starting ORA_ROOT:[NETWORK]tnslsnr: please wait...
%SYSTEM-F-ACCVIO, access violation, reason mask=3D00, virtual address=3D0=
0000000, PC=3D001687BC, PS=3D0000001B
%TRACE-F-TRACEBACK, symbolic stack dump follows
etc. etc.
I checked the lsnrctl.com file and saw where it was searching for the tns= lsnr.exe file in [netconfig] and [network] and was supposed to be using = the 1st one it found. I was guessing that it was not, so, I copied the = tnslsnr.exe into ora_root:[network] from ora_root:[netconfig]. After tha= t, everytime tried to start it, I got a TNS:12560 - protocol adapter erro= r. I've read the error description and found no help there.
I've checked my listener.ora, etc. files against some other OpenVMS boxes= and they seem ok. I'm thinking it's another problem. If anyone could = offer some help, I'd appreciate it. Here's our setup:
AlphaServer 2100 4/233 running OpenVMS V6.2
Oracle V7.1.3
SQL*Net V2.1.3 with DEC TCP adapter
thnx,
tcoker
