MANAGER INFORMATION SPECIALIST III (1819 MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS SPECIALIST III) INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES APPOINTMENT: Provisional, full-time (40 hours/week) position. In order to be eligible for a permanent appointment, the temporary incumbent must successfully compete in a civil service examination for this class.
SALARY RANGE: $1899.00-$2309.00 Bi-weekly $49,560.00-$60,264.00 Annually

POSITION DESCRIPTION: City College of San Francisco will establish a college Decision Support System (DSS) for faculty and staff during the next five years. Under the general direction of the Directors of Research and Information Technology Services, the MIS Specialist III will design and develop SAS generated reports and interfaces for the DSS. The MIS Specialist III will also form a technical core with the project technical coordinator, the staff trainer and a representative from Information Technology Services. This core group will define and document requirements and technical specifications for the DSS. This core will work with an end-user group of faculty and staff established to define the reporting and information needs of eachschool in the college.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: B.A. degree from an accredited college or university, major
course work in Information Systems, Computer Science or closely related
field is desirable; and
EXPERIENCE: At least 3-5 years recent, demonstrated experience in the
following:
1. Using the SAS System, including SAS/ACCESS, to access data from RDBMS
(experience with Oracle preferred);
2. Using SAS as a data management, reporting, and analysis tool. Must have
some experience generating statistics; 3. Using the SAS System as an application development tool on a UNIX
platform, including SAS/FSP, SAS/AF and SAS Screen Control Language to design customized interfaces for end users.
Substitution: Up to two years of additional verifiable experience (Expert knowledge of on-line problem reporting system, on-line diagnostic tools, telecommunications networks, and operating system software is highly desirable) may be substituted for the required education as follows: (One year (2,000 hours) of such experience is equivalent to 30 semester/45 quarter units. Two years (60 semester/90 quarter units) of college course work is an absolute requirement for which no substitution will be allowed.
Additional Desired Skills/Experience:
a) Academic environment(s); b) SAS Frame entries; c) Generating projections
and other statistics; d) UNIX networks. e) Good written and verbal
communications skills and f) Ability to work with a diverse users group.
