According to the book Oracle Backup and Recovery Handbook, Netware will allow writing archive log files directly to tape IF the tape looks like a normal volume; ie, you can get directory listings of it, copy to it, etc.

I have read in the Oracle DBA I course notes that you can write the archive logs directly
to tape. Is this operating system specific ??? I was under the impression that they had
to be written to a disk file first then copied off later by the tape software.

Also ... under Oracle 7.2 is there a job scheduler ??? I read it in Oracle Magazine ???
I just received it ... kinda looking thru the notes ...
