I'm not an expert in this area, so I hope you'll forgive the intrusion. We, too, are beginning to look at DBA tools. We're converting our student records and fees system to Oracle 7 (currently COBOL flat file structures). You didn't mention the fatal flaws with Desktop DBA. Since that product was on my "short" list, could you share your evaluation with us?
Have you considered looking at EcoTOOLS (EcoSystems Business Group, Compuware Corporation)? I can't recommend it (yet, since we haven't completed any evaluations), but it may deserve your consideration.
